<thetext>Could someone explain how to eliminate openmotif-2.3.0 blocking the emerge of the newer motif-config?

I've installed openmotif-2.3.0 (with the older version 2.2.3 still being present) and have tried modifications to package.unmask and package.mask that usually seem to work) but still get a blocking message when I run emerge -pv.

I need to keep 2.2.3 because an equery depends indicates a number of packages still depend on it, e.g.:
Depends on =x11-libs/openmotif-2.2.3-r9:
app-editors/emacs-21.4-r12
app-editors/emacs-22.1-r3
app-editors/gvim-7.1.123
app-editors/xemacs-21.4.21
app-text/tetex-3.0_p1-r6
app-text/xpdf-3.02-r1

media-libs/mesa-7.0.2
media-sound/xmcd-3.3.2
media-tv/xawtv-3.95-r1
sci-astronomy/xephem-3.7.2
sci-biology/clustalx-1.83-r2
sci-biology/ncbi-tools-20060507
sci-chemistry/gromacs-3.3.1-r1
sci-chemistry/molmol-2k_p2
sci-chemistry/viewmol-2.4.1
sci-electronics/electric-7.00
x11-misc/xcalendar-4.0
x11-misc/xlockmore-5.23-r1

I use a number of these packages (e.g. gvim, xawtv, clustalx, ncbi-tools, gromacs, molmol & viewmol) and until these packages are known to work on 2.3.0 I believe I need a slotted system for openmotif.

Does anyone know whether 2.3.0 is call compatible with 2.2.3? Is the problem simply that the ebuilds for these packages need to be updated?

No you don't need to keep it; emerge -C \<openmotif-2.3.0; revdep-rebuild. There's no way to eliminate the blocker as it's intended. Also please note that this is a keywording bug and not a support forum. Thanks.

<thetext>amd64 stable. (I consider bug 210220 a minor issue, since it occurs only with USE=xft. If the suggested fix works, we should go for speedy stabilisation of 2.3.0-r1.)

Openmotif-2.3.0 now has stable keywords on all of lesstif's arches.
