Compiles cleanly, haven't tested its' operation but I see no reason it shouldn't work. I didn't squawk when this was removed during the bump because I had thought I saw a changeset upstream that addressed this and didn't notice it wasn't because I don't typically use it. Is there any reason this patch cannot be submitted upstream for the next release?
