            <thetext>Compiles with no patches on my AMD64, and works.  Only trivial modifications
to the 1.8.1 ebuild were needed -- omitting the patches, naturally.

Unlike 1.8.1, 1.8.3 supports the --rdtsc option, which makes it function far more
reliably on my system.
