> 4) works, though on my productive system I get textrels with GCC 4.1: Report
> further?

eix uses neither direct assembler code nor exports any library.
Maybe some autotool thingy needs fPIC somewhere anyway?
However, scanelf -qt /usr/bin does not report any textrel for one of the 3 eix programs, neither on x86 nor on amd64 (both compiled with gcc 4.1).

Sorry for that.
However, I did search the bugzilla with keywords "eix", but none was found.
So I filed this bug.
Glad to see that this could be the last draw to make it stable on all archs.

What I have done is just searching "eix" in this page http://bugs.gentoo.org/ under "Enter a bug # or some search terms:".
However, I know how to search for a bug now. The sad thing is nobody has pointed to me this page before http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml.
How a new user is supposed to get to know this howto?</thetext>
