<thetext>Can we have a version of nss-mdns stablised for x86? I've been using this for a while on an x86 stable box without any problems (0.9).

Thanks.</thetext>

<thetext>Please ensure that this is tested with avahi and howl. The latter will be removed (hopefully) soon, but for the time being, please test against both.</thetext>

<thetext>yes, i have been using it with avahi and banshee (for iTunes shares), and on the same network, and it is working fine with resolving .local domains.

liquidx@qoo ~ $ getent hosts mcbook.local
192.168.9.3 mcbook.local

with nss-mdns-0.8

hope that is a good datapoint for you.

<thetext>just to add, mcbook is a mac, but i suppose if you have avahi running on another linux box on your network, it will resolve it too. as per the README, you need to change /etc/nsswitch.conf to use libnss_mdns.
