            <thetext>current stable sci-libs/lapack-atlas-3.6.0 fails to build with GCC 4.1. if possible, please stabilize &gt;=sci-libs/lapack-atlas-3.7.11 or backport the eclass fix from ~arch so we can work on getting GCC 4.1 into stable.

            <thetext>I&apos;d be absolutely for it. Upstream recommends the development
versions anyway due to much better support of newer CPUs; 3.6.0
is fairly old by now. 3.7.12 just came out a few weeks ago with fairly 
significant changes to the build system; hence, 3.7.11 is probably
a good candidate for the new stable branch.
