<thetext>There is a bug in kopete that makes my desktop to hang when I try to uncompress a file from the right click with kopete working. This problem has been happening for every kopete version 0.11.x and 0.12. It seems that finally the kopete team has found a fix for the bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127749.

I wonder if this fix could be included as a patch for the kde-3.5.3 and kopete ebuilds in the portage tree.</thetext>

            <thetext>The patch is actually in portage for net-im/kopete-0.12 (didn't bumped
revision cause is first report after more than 1 month.....) , resync
and re-emerge net-im/kopete to test.</thetext>

            <thetext>First of all, thank so much for your fast answer and your help ;-).

I've done the resync and the re emerge at home (it compiled perfectly) and everything seems to work fine. But most of the problems that I had was with the machine that I use from monday to friday, so next monday I'll recompile kopete in that computer to apply the new patch and I'll test it. I'll add a comment with the result.

I can try to apply manually the patch to kopete 0.11.x if it helps to decide if we can apply it also to those older versions. I'll do it also next monday.

Thank you very much again.</thetext>

            <thetext>So, I've recompiled kopete-0.12 in the machine that I had most of the problems. All problems has dissapeared. So the patch works.

Then I have created a custom ebuild for kdenetwork-3.5.3 from the one existing in the portage, but adding the patch that you attached for kopete-0.12. The package compiles fine. The kopete version that is included is 0.11.3, and after applying the patch it works perfectly and it doesn't seem to freeze anymore. So it seems that we can apply safely the patch to at least 3.5.3.

To apply the patch I simple copied the patch to kdenetwork/files
And I changed the existing:

PATCHES="${FILESDIR}/kppp-3.5.0-bindnow.patch
        ${FILESDIR}/lisa-3.5.0-bindnow.patch"

with

PATCHES="${FILESDIR}/kppp-3.5.0-bindnow.patch
        ${FILESDIR}/lisa-3.5.0-bindnow.patch
        ${FILESDIR}/kopete-0.12-away.diff"

I hope this help.</thetext>
