            <thetext>when emerging flex, it gets built without -fPIC, which at least breaks sci-mathematics/snns. Adding &quot;append-flags -fPIC&quot; to src_compile() fixes the relocation problems.</thetext>

why? what&apos;s so special about flex? there are apps in portage which do - so why dont compile flex with -fPIC?</thetext>
