I just tried and it works fine here. What version of cmake are you using? If you're using cmake-2.0.6 please try it with the one in ~arch, i.e. cmake-2.2.3. I haven't had the time to actually compile anything against Vtk, but the ebuild went ok. I guess the deps could be updated to include this version of cmake.
