OK, Ijust tried: MAKEOPTS=&quot;-j1&quot; emerge -u artsplugin-mpeglib
and it failed just the same. I don&apos;t have any 
MAKEOPTS in my make.conf so it probably was defaulting to -j1.</thetext>
