Please, don't bzip/gzip attachments, especially not tiny files; just attach plaintext logs.

Exactly the same with x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810-2.2.0-r1.
Could you please try the latest p.masked snapshots in the tree? Thanks
(In reply to comment #7) > Could you please try the latest p.masked snapshots in the tree? Thanks I pretty much doubt this is driver-version related. > (EE) intel(0): No valid modes. Apparently Modes "800x480" is not something that'd work for your videocard and/or monitor. This sounds like plain misconfiguration.
Created attachment 142339 [details] Working configuration with vesa driver One device is driven by i810, the other - by vesa. Screen is on vesa, changing screen to i810 device, setting both to use i810 or removing any of the results in failures with the same output as shown above.
Created attachment 142341 [details] Log of working vesa-driven configuration Note the default modes.
Tried new _pre driver. No changes.
I should have noted that the same device (ASUS R2H) was reported to work successfully with i810 and 800x480 resolution on gentoo: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-564170.html?sid=5dfb4df62fb65a502c788bc0b630c8f1
With the latest snapshot, 1) could you remove the following lines : HorizSync 31.5-82.0 VertRefresh 50-90 2) replace them with : Option "DPMS" Thanks
No effect.
A few things: 1) could you also try removing the following lines : Subsection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "800x480" ViewPort 0 0 EndSubsection 2) with all the previous modifications to xorg.conf, could you attach a new Xorg.0.log and paste the output of "xrandr --verbose" ? Thanks PS, I'm asking all this to make sure there isn't something obviously wrong (which at this point I'm starting to doubt). If I don't find anything, you going to have to go to freedesktop's bugzilla to open a bug with all the info I've requested from you, Intel people are much more likely to find what's wrong than us.
Thank You. Unfortunately I'm not going to have access to the device until sunday night, so no more info for now.
Ping :) Any updates here? I've just pushed 2.2.1 to portage. Could you try it out? Thanks
Same problem for me with : - x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810-2.1.1 - x11-base/xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r6 - 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03) X doesn't start : (EE) intel(0): detecting sil164 (EE) intel(0): Unable to read from DVOI2C_E Slave 112. (In reply to comment #18) > Same problem for me with : > - x11-drivers/xf86-video-i810-2.1.1 > - x11-base/xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r6 Please try updating the driver to 2.3.2. It should work a little better. If you can, please try to also update xorg-server to 1.4.2. Thanks
Reassigning back to x11 as I am now on that alias.
Intel drivers 1.x are no longer supported. Please do try again with newer versions of xorg-server and xf86-video-intel. Don't forget to remove all monitor frequencies from your Monitor device to let the server find the best mode. If that still doesn't work, please reopen this bug with an updated Xorg.0.log Thanks
