This time, it's a real Seagate, labelled Seagate :D 400G, UDMA-100. Personnal question: I bought this 400 and the twi 160 mentioned 2 days ago the same day, last week. they are all said to be seagate, and have pretty similar packaging (metal box, covers, stickers, PCB ...). They are all put int my desktop, stacked one above the other, but, spaced to let air move around. The 400G is the one most down, and it is usually 3 to 4 degrees hotter than the upper 160. Any idea why ? Since the 400 is UDMA100, and rewer tech, I was expecting better motor, better oil film, lower heat ... and seems like no. ************************************************************HDDTEMP root@moon_gen_2:/tmp# hddtemp --debug /dev/hdb ================= hddtemp 0.3-beta15 ================== Model: ST3400620A field(1) = 169 (0xa9) field(3) = 0 (0x00) field(4) = 32 (0x20) field(5) = 0 (0x00) field(7) = 151 (0x97) field(9) = 123 (0x7b) field(10) = 0 (0x00) field(12) = 37 (0x25) field(187) = 0 (0x00) field(189) = 0 (0x00) field(190) = 33 (0x21) field(194) = 33 (0x21) field(195) = 226 (0xe2) field(197) = 0 (0x00) field(198) = 0 (0x00) field(199) = 0 (0x00) field(200) = 0 (0x00) field(202) = 0 (0x00) If one of the field value seems to match the temperature, be sure to read the hddtemp man page before sending a report (section REPORT).
