Description Bill Roberts 2005-07-19 07:04:34 UTC
In the previous screenrc, it was possible to use ctrl-b in screen for urlview.
With the latest upgrade, designed to fix bug 61195 (I think), it no longer
works. I was able to fix it by using the old screenrc. Nothing else seems to be
affected.

The ability to use urlview in screen is much more important to me than the
scrolling function of xterm, which I have turned off. If scrolling in xterm and
using urlview are incompatible, please allow us to make the choice.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Emerge older version of screen. Setup to use urlview.
2.Emerge latest version of screen. Use new screenrc. urlview broken.
3.Replace screenrc with earlier version. urlview works.

Two options: add an ewarn to pkg_postinst(), or add a urlview USE flag. The
latter isn't really approriate for a USE flag, in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Personally, I treat it like: It's a config file, we provide defaults and it's up
to you to adjust it to fit your custom needs.

I don't know what ctrl-b is designated to do, but I'm able to scroll backward
and forward using ctrl-b and ctrl-f just fine.

Well, it's a conflict with one of urlview's bindings. I guess you're right in
comment #2, but it doesn't cost anything to provide an einfo.

screen-4.0.2-r5 now prints a line saying that we enable some xterm hacks and that they might break some applications.
