Don't assign bugs yourselves. By the looks of it a python bindings problem, might have to do with the used gnome-python version or not updating python modules after a version upgrade.
I have the exact same problem. However, I tried to modify the /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gnomebt/manager.py by removing one of the "gtk.TRUE" on line 143 and also replace all "gtk.TRUE" with "True". This helped me overcome the complains gnome-bluetooth-manager was displaying when I run it from the command line but still it crashes and I can't search for any device. I have entered bug reports before, and never got complaints like this. > By the looks of it a python bindings problem, might have to do with the used > gnome-python version or not updating python modules after a version upgrade. So how do we proceed? Did I understand you correctly in that you think the cause of the problem should not be looked for within the gnome-bluetooth-manager package? In that case, maybe I should file a new bug report. Can I do something to narrow down the problem?

So I understand it's a python bindings problem. How to solve this?

what is the version of python, pygtk and gnome-bluetooth are those who have problems using? i suspect it is just a matter of gnome-bluetooth being out of sync with the rest of pygtk.
* dev-lang/python Latest version available: 2.4.2 Latest version installed: 2.4.2 * dev-python/pygtk Latest version available: 2.8.2 Latest version installed: 2.8.2 * net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth Latest version available: 0.6.0 Latest version installed: 0.6.0
same problem here, gnome-bluetooth starts without error but when i perform a scan this output message comes: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gnomebt/manager.py:220: GtkWarning: gtk_label_set_text: assertion `GTK_IS_LABEL (label)' failed self.statusbar.pop () /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gnomebt/manager.py:222: GtkWarning: gtk_label_set_text: assertion `GTK_IS_LABEL (label)' failed self.statusbar.push (_("Scanning for devices...")) (Bluetooth Device Manager:21622): GnomeUI-CRITICAL **: gnome_appbar_set_progress_percentage: assertion `appbar->_priv->progress != NULL' failed ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm using: * dev-lang/python Latest version available: 2.4.2 Latest version installed: 2.4.2 * dev-python/pygtk Latest version available: 2.6.1 Latest version installed: 2.6.1 * net-wireless/gnome-bluetooth Latest version available: 0.6.0 Latest version installed: 0.6.0 Upgrading pygtk to version 2.6.2 brings the same error...
i'm going to bump 0.6.0 to stable as it solves this problem.
fixed in 0.6.0 which is now the new stable version.
