I don't understand the report. You post 2 outputs, one which segfaults, the other does not. Please explain..? Please post "emerge info" output to every bug report that you file.
The first (linux-2.6.12-gentoo-r4) is critical because have Segmentation fault. The second (linux-2.6.11-gentoo-r11) is only a warning.

The latest version of wxGTK available on AMD64 is 2.4.2-r3, and I do not have it installed. However, external to portage, I do have a version of wxWidgets 2.5.3 installed for use by the PgAdmin tool, which is a GUI interface to PostgreSQL. That version is slightly modified by the PgAdmin maintainers. I just visited the PgAdmin page, and they now claim to support version 2.6.x. Are you surmising that having WxWidgets installed at all is causing this problem? Or that having a version earlier than 2.6 is causing it? I'm willing to upgrade to 2.6.1 to see if that fixes the problem.

Vouching for this bug. Tried it with the current kernel, also tried it with the latest tarball from kernel.org. Doing a 'make gconfig' seg-faults. I do not have wxGTK installed. Created attachment 64280 [details] Strace of 'make gconfig' I'm attaching an strace of the segfaulting process. Any help? I can also post a core dump, although without symbols it's probably less than useful.
Next step is to figure out which Makefile's to edit to compile gconfig with debug info (CFLAGS += -g) and then to run gconfig through gdb. That way we'll get a stack trace from the crash. If anyone feels like having a go at this, feel free. If not, I'll investigate later this week and post up some procedures to follow.
Created attachment 64287 [details, diff] gconfig.patch This is a patch found on a Debian mailing list. Source URL is below http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2005/01/msg00171.html Patch this into (linux)/scripts/kconfig directory. Hope this helps for those having this problem and I hope that this may eventually be submitted upstream to the base kernel.

DJ, thanks! The patch fixes the problem. Y'all push it upstream.
I posted to kbuild-devel@lists.sourceforge.net with this, referencing this bug and Joachim Nilsson's patch post on the Debian kernel list. From reviewing the thread on the Debian list, it looks as if the kernel gconfig isn't maintained very well.
Looks like this issue was fixed in linux-2.6.13-rc4.
Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r7 Fixed in genpatches-2.6.12-11
