Description Yannick Koehler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-04 08:41:50 UTC
KDevelop has nice feature about indexing the kdelibs in order to facilitate
developement of KDE application. The gentoo distro doesn't keep the kdelibs
source thought therefore when installing KDE it can't locate those and the user
is confused inside the first wizard of KDE which ask to build the kdelibs sources.

It would be nice if part of the Kdevelop install would include extracting the
kdelibs to a defined path.

Dan, I have no clue about this one but thought you might :)
Comment 2 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-07 12:18:17 UTC
This was proposed before, but was rejected, mainly on grounds of space - the kdelibs sources are 45MB in size. I'm willing to reconsider it. In fact, I'm starting to lean towards intalling the sources. One question is, into what path. I'll inquire about this.

maybe to make that things less annoying for everyone, install the sources only
if a USE such as kdelibs-source is present?
Comment 4 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-03-07 12:26:17 UTC
No, we don't want to create a USE flag that'll be used just by one ebuild. I just asked and we have no plans atm to install package sources in a generic way, so we'll be narrow-minded here and just extract the sources into /usr/src/kdelibs-$ver.
