I can NOT print using cups. If I use "cat text.txt > /dev/usb/lp0", it works. But cupsdoprint doesn't work. I emerged cups and all parts of foomatic. Now I reinstalled foomatic and I CAN print. After reinstall of foomatic, there is file "foomatic-rip" in /usr/lib/cups/filters. I think, "USE='cups ppds' emerge foomatic cups hpijs" install foomatic first and then cups installer delete "filters" dir, where are foomatic files! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge foomatic and THEN cups 2. 3. cups doesn't remove it here
2 Heinrich Wendel: It is "File not found." Foomatic and foomatic-db installed, but there is no "foomatic-rip" file in cups filters directory.
Just like mine: ===================== E [21/Jun/2005:21:17:47 +0000] PID 11262 stopped with status 22! hello, same problem exists here when using the hplip-0.9.4 ebuild: after installing the missing foomatic-rip from foomatic-filters ebuild, printing works again.
this could be a hplip problem of overwriting foomatic-filter paths somewhere ..
I added foomatic-filters to RDEPEND in hplip-0.9.7-r3. This should pull it in so that /usr/bin/foomatic-rip isn't missing anymore. Please reopen if you still have any issues.
