There's a new version of uqm, that supposedly (among others) fixes a bug that
makes the alien communication window blue when run with frame buffer.

I actually got an e-build working last night and got it going.  It uses the
shipped wrapper script correctly, but is mostly just an update to the old
ebuild.  I have a high-res wrapper I use, should I make it install that as well
and include it?
