A new version of netspeed_applet is out. Using the 0.11 ebuild renamed to
0.12.1 worked for me.

It also works with Gnome 2.10 on my system. Before, netspeed_applet 0.10
(stable ebuild atm) failed to load, giving a Bonobo error.
