Software radio capability, with code very close to hardware. As written up in Linux Journal et. al. This would be really nice in Gentoo. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Reopen if you have an ebuild. Meanwhile, marking LATER.

Gnuradio 3.0.3 is out btw.
The executable stack problem has been fixed upstream in the GNU Radio trunk as of r6205. This fix will be in release 3.1 which is expected in a couple of weeks.
Release 3.1.1 is available for some time now - has the issue been fixed?
(In reply to comment #8) > Release 3.1.1 is available for some time now - has the issue been fixed? > Yes, it's fixed. [I'm not sure about the gentoo bug resolution protocol. It's fixed in GNU Radio; can somebody who knows what they're doing close this, or whatever needs to to happen to move this along. Thx]
I renamed the attached ebuild to -3.1.3, and it emerged just fine on amd64.
Created attachment 172030 [details] New ebuild with more explicit dependencies and configure options. I added some dependencies and USE-flags. The text about avr-gcc was removed, since ezdop isn't included in the 3.1.3 tarball.
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy. Created attachment 199599 [details] Ebuild for sci-electronics/gnuradio-3.2.2 New ebuild with updated dependencies for gnuradio-3.2.2. I don't have access to USRP hardware anymore, so I haven't been able to test it properly, but it builds ok. Is it possible to use crossdev to get a toolchain for the MicroBlaze arch? It is needed in order to build the firmware for the USRP2.

Initial update of this ebuild, with the intention of adding to sunrise. (or science) overlay. Still needs work + testing, but works as-is at present. Hard disabled comedi, as there is still no ebuild for comedilib.
Created attachment 243941 [details] Updated ebuild for GNURadio 3.3.0 Here is an updated ebuild for version 3.3.0.
Hi, there is a small error in the ebuild of version 3.3.0: If one installs it without the wxwidgets use flag, one receives the following error: --- snip --- [...] Component gr-qtgui passed configuration checks; building. Component gr-sounder passed configuration checks; building. Component gr-utils requires gr-wxgui, which is not being built or specified via pre-installed files. configure: error: Component gr-utils has errors; stopping. [...] * Call stack: * ebuild.sh, line 54: Called src_configure * environment, line 4948: Called econf '--with-boost=/usr/include/boost-1_41' '--with-boost-libdir=/usr/lib64/boost-1_41' '--enable-gnuradio-core' '--enable-all-components' '--disable-option-checking' '--disable-gr-audio-windows' '--disable-gr-audio-osx' '--disable-gcell' '--disable-gr-gcell' '--disable-usrp2-firmware' '--enable-gr-audio-alsa' '--disable-doxygen' '--disable-docs' '--disable-dot' '--disable-gr-comedi' '--enable-gnuradio-examples' '--disable-grc' '--enable-usrp' '--enable-gr-usrp' '--enable-gr-gpio' '--enable-gr-radar-mono' '--enable-gr-sounder' '--enable-gr-utils' '--enable-usrp2' '--enable-gr-usrp2' '--disable-gr-audio-jack' '--disable-gr-audio-oss' '--disable-gr-audio-portaudio' '--disable-gr-wxgui' '--disable-gr-video-sdl' '--enable-gr-qtgui' '--with-qwt-incdir=/usr/include/qwt5' '--disable-sdltest' --- snap --- I use the following use flags: alsa examples qt4 usb usrp usrp2 (-comedi -doc -dot -grc -jack -oss -portaudio -sdl -wxwidgets) The problem seems to come from the usrp use flag, which enables gr-utils, which relies on gr-wxgui. Thus I guess, you need to extend the test in pkg_setup() to "-wxwidgets and (grc or usrp)". Ohh, and USE="alsa examples usb usrp usrp2 -comedi -doc -dot -grc -jack -oss -portaudio -qt4 -sdl -wxwidgets" (qt4 disabled!) fails, because of the following: --- snip --- ./configure [...] --without-qwt-incdir=/usr/include/qwt5 [...] configure: error: invalid package name: qwt-incdir=/usr/include/qwt5 --- snap ---
Created attachment 249442 [details] USE="-qt4 -wxwidgets +usrp" works again Thanks for the report. An updated ebuild is attached.
To make the above ebuild (attachment #249442 [details]) work for me here, I had to add an dependency on qt-qt3support, otherwise some needed headers were missing and compilation failed. No need to send a patch, it is easier for me to just type the few characters needed :) If you still have it, the build log from the failed build would be intresting to see.
Updating this there was a Deprecation Warning: Usage of python_mod_optimize() in packages not supporting installation for multiple Python ABIs in EAPI <=2 is deprecated and will be disallowed on 2011-08-01. Use EAPI >=3 and call python_mod_optimize() with paths having appropriate syntax. The ebuild needs to be fixed. Please report a bug, if it has not been already reported.
Created attachment 282617 [details] gnuradio-3.3.0.ebuild New revision of the ebuild, updated for EAPI 3. It's just compile tested. If you find any bugs, please report them here. I removed the usb use flag, since it was completely redundant with the usrp use flag.
And GNU Radio 3.5.2.1 have been out for 22 days.
Created attachment 308595 [details] gnuradio-3.5.3.ebuild ebuild for gnuradio-3.5.3 Maybe I'll add this to portage, but as upstream switched to cmake for what will become 3.6 its usefulness is limited.
Fixed in CVS.
