Please split splashutils, as it is unnecessarily big. (12MB for a small tool that should only be 2MB big?!)
The themes that come with it could also be in separate packages, like splash-themes-emergence and splash-themes-gentoo.
This also makes updating faster, as the themes don't change so often and thus I don't have to redownload them. (I clean up my distfiles sometimes as others are surely, too.)
You should append a einfo at the end of the ebuild, that one now has to emerge any splash-themes-XXX, to use it.

As requested, the themes have been removed from media-gfx/splashutils and put into media-gfx/splash-themes-gentoo, which will contain all Gentoo-related splash themes.

How about we upgrade these theme to stable now? ;)
