I'm running [ebuild R ] net-dns/bind-9.2.5 +berkdb -bind-mysql -caps -dlz -doc -idn +ipv6 -ldap -mysql -odbc -postgres (-selinux) +ssl 0 kB on a dual PIII and second CPU is not recognized This is a part from my log file: Apr 11 15:10:47 [named] starting BIND 9.2.5 -u named -n 2 Apr 11 15:10:47 [named] using 1 CPU Apr 11 15:10:47 [named] loading configuration from '/etc/bind/named.conf' iirc last version of bind was using both CPUs. I think it's because of a missing --enable-threads in the ebuild, but this is just a wild guess. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: uses only 1 cpu Expected Results: should use as many cpus as given in the config file (or -n parameter)
known bug. that's because threading is strictly disabled in bind's configure options (`grep thr bind-9.2.5.ebuild`) for stability reasons. 9.2.5-r1 will have 'threads' use flag to regulate it. anyway, - thanks for your attention, Timo.
hmm. i'll close it when -r1'll hit portage tree.
-r1 is in portage now, so closing this bug. thanks, Timo.
