Description Daniel Alonso 2005-04-05 14:06:18 UTC
Upgrading to gentoo-sources-2.6.11-r5 produced the disapparition of my console background.

I compiled it with genkernel --menuconfig --udev --gensplash=emergence all

Trying to configure it manually I don't find the "Support for the framebuffer splash" option under "Device Drivers > Graphics support"

Has it been moved?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

While in menuconfig, please type:

/FB_SPLASH

then hit enter.

Does anything appear? If so, please check that you have satisified the dependencies.

Hi Daniel,

your info did the trick: FB_SPLASH was not active. So I went to the place where the symbol was defined and activated it.

Nevertheless, was not genkernel supposed to deal with this if invoked with --gensplash option?

Anyway, thanks a lot.

Well, genkernel doesn't change the config based on command line options... it was never intended to do so... that being said, it is planned for future versions of genkernel... just not sure exactly when it will make its debut.

Genkernel: Did you also check that all dependencies are met before setting
FB_SPLASH?

genkernel 3.3.6 is now in CVS
