so hey, I put it into portage, so enjoy :)

See my note in the ChangeLog -- I'll happily add a patch that doesn't add functionality, but DOES make the build process sane, and have it sent upstream.

Seriously, how does "--with-motif" imply the same thing as "--without-motif"?

It's silliness, and that's just to start off with. Anyway, if you're interested in patching etc, come talk to me, I'll give you a list of what stuff needs to be fixed in their build process.
