Unforunately, the ebuild only specifies >=sys-apps/texinfo-4.6

The requirement for >=texinfo-4.7 is in the INSTALL.txt in the source tarball.

texinfo 4.6 causes fatal errors in building the documentation; upgrading to texinfo-4.8 solved the problem for me.
