Description Tiziano Müller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-20 10:34:25 UTC
I'm trying to install zope-2.7.4 (or zopex3).
Check from the ebuild is ok, but I get an error during "Configuring Zope installation"

Configuring Zope installation

Testing for an acceptable Python interpreter...

Python version 2.3.5 found at /usr/bin/python
Python version 2.3.5 found at /usr/bin/python2
Python version 2.3.5 found at /usr/bin/python2.3

No suitable Python version found. You should install
Python version 2.3.4 before continuing. Versions
2.3.3 also work, but not as optimally.

!!! ERROR: net-zope/zope-2.7.4 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 47, Exitcode 1
!!! Failed to configure.
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =dev-lang/python-2.3.5
2a. emerge zope ... or
2b. emerge zope3x

thats because you have bleeding edge packages enabled (ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86).

You can solve it now by temporary modifying zope-2.7.4.ebuild in your portage and change line:
./configure --ignore-largefile --prefix=. || die "Failed to configure."

by adding as another argument to configure: "--with-python=/usr/bin/python2.3"

then you should be able to emerge it (and use i think) without problem.
Comment 2 Tiziano Müller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-20 14:00:15 UTC
thanks for the fast response => 1h21m for a non-critical bug, wow!
... and it worked.

I know that I'm using ~x86, but the bleeding edge packages of today become the stabile packages of tomorrow ;-)
Comment 3 Radoslaw Stachowiak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-22 11:52:25 UTC
fixed in portage WITHOUT new ebuild. please do 'emerge sync' and then 'emerge zope'. it should work now.
