Another package related to allegro, media-libs/allegrogl doesn't install its examples either when emerged. I opened a separate bug report for allegrogl but since it's marked a duplicate, maybe you're working on both packages at once.
Alright... I've updated the ebuilds to install the docs when the doc USE flag is used. Since this doesn't affect functionality, I'm not bumping the revision.
