Description Hans-Henry Jakobsen 2002-02-19 03:09:47 UTC
I've just successfully installed net-fs/netatalk but I couldn't find any
atalkd daemon file in /etc/init.d/ catalog ?
Am I looking in the wrong place for it or is somewhere else ?

I guess we need to add one? :)
Comment 2 chouser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-02-26 23:22:03 UTC
I've checked in net-fs/netatalk-1.5.2. It features an almost entirely new
initscript. I'm not in a good position to test this package, however, so I'm
going to leave it masked.

Please test this, and let me know how it goes. Also, please run the following
command and include the output with your testing results:

  ls -td /var/db/pkg/*/{pam,tcp-wrappers,openssl,shadow,db}-*

Thanks!

Chouser, I don't know if you got any reply for your request, but I just
installed net-fs/netatalk-1.5.2 by unmasking it on my system and it works great
right out of the box. Thank you!

Here is the output you asked for:

/var/db/pkg/sys-apps/shadow-4.0.2-r4 /var/db/pkg/dev-libs/openssl-0.9.6c-r1
/var/db/pkg/sys-apps/tcp-wrappers-7.6-r3 /var/db/pkg/sys-libs/db-3.2.3h-r4
/var/db/pkg/sys-apps/shadow-4.0.2-r3 /var/db/pkg/sys-libs/db-1.85-r1
/var/db/pkg/sys-libs/pam-0.75-r6

I just unmasked netatalk-1.5.2 and merged it. Everything seems to work great.
My iMac can manipulate files on my Gentoo box all day. I think it's ready to
be unmasked officially.

Just a followup. I've been using the masked netatalk ebuild for a couple weeks
now and haven't run into any problems. Version 1.5.2 also seems to fix an issue
where Mac OS X clients wouldn't connect without a welcome message. The config
file protection works good also.

Hi,

Should this bug be CLOSED now? netatalk in portage is now up to 1.5.3.1 and the
scripts seem to be working fine.

Cheers,

Alastair

fixed with latest stable version of atalk
