Hi! Please find the attached ebuild of the hdup-2.0.3 backup program. Also note, that the previous release (1.6.37) seems to be quite stable and tested (at least by me) at the x86 platform, so I suggest changing the KEYWORDS to "x86". BR, ediap

latest is 2.0.6 ;-)
Just rename the 2.0.5 ebuild :-) (and delete $DISTDIR/hdup.tar.bz2)

One question related to the latest ebuild from the attachements. Is it OK to install examples and contrib directories into /usr/share/hdup-x.y.z ? In my opinion, they are more suitable for the doc dir /usr/share/doc/hdpu-x.y.z... And what is wrong with this bug report that the hdup-2.0.x ebuild is not in portage yet? The 2.0.3 version has been reported in December 2004.

I dont' know which is the best destination dir :-) . I think /usr/share/doc, as the name says, is for documentation. If you execute 'find /usr/share/ -iname \*.pl', you discover that there isn't a general rule for this kind of files: some packages install in /usr/share/doc/${PN}/, others install in /usr/share/${PN}. Is there any gentoo developer to solve this question and to add the ebuild to portage?
(From update of attachment 54030 [edit]) Some cosmetic changes
the working ebuild is 2,5 months old ...
I have added Martin's email (I think he is the maintainer) to CC.
Created an attachment (id=60591) [edit] hdup-2.0.7.ebuild I have added Martin's email to CC (I think he is still the maintainer. I have also modified the SRC_URI to allow proper mirroring of various versions of the tarball
Created an attachment (id=63922) [edit] hdup-2.0.9.ebuild Version bump to 2.0.9 Changes: * now contrib/dirinfo.sh and contrib/hdup.sh are installed
current version is 2.0.10 ... and it works on amd64 ... what are the portage admins waiting for? (good work guys anyway, thanks, but it would be nicer to look for - and find - favourite software in portage rather than in bugzilla ...)
2.0.12 is out... anyone watching this?
Ok thanks for reporting this, I'd be intersted in maintaining the package in the future, since I need a backup-solution for one of my server and Hdup2 seems a great tool, if no one else already has his eyes set on this I'll checkout the ebuilds and see to add them to the tree during next week. Best regards, CHTEKK.

Created an attachment (id=78653) [edit] hdup-2.0.14.ebuild Ebuild for hdup 2.0.14. Just a version bump, apart from the removed S=${WORKDIR}/${PN}2 (the upstream now uses ${WORKDIR}/${P} which is the default)
Just a note: maybe hdup2 will be discontinued in the future as his author is developing a new backup program called rdup. So I think this program will never be added to portage :-(
I'm taking this over, will add hdup2 in the next days to the tree, as well as rdup. Best regards, CHTEKK.
app-backup/hdup-2.0.14 is finally in the tree, enjoy, and a big sorry for the delay. ;) I'll probably add rdup too in the next days. Best regards, CHTEKK.
Any progress on rdup?
