This bug and other hardened bugs I usually handle are put on hold. pappy wont be commiting and I wont be for a while either. Better this makes it way to the maintainer.
Comment 2 Peter S. Mazinger 2004-12-16 07:11:04 UTC
applies also to vsftpd-1.2.2 (current stable)
Comment 3 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-22 12:36:29 UTC
fixed in CVS.
Comment 4 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-22 12:37:33 UTC
Note: vsftpd-2.0.1 has a src_install() that does not appear to install the vsftpd anyway.. Did not remove the filtering from there till vsftpd starts to actually compile/install the ELF
Comment 5 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-22 12:43:31 UTC
closing as FIXED
Comment 6 Robert Baxter 2005-02-09 06:26:35 UTC
ebuild for vsftpd-2.0.1 has now been fixed (src_compile portion)
-fPIC can be commented out or removed from the vsftpd-2.0.1 ebuild now as well.
Comment 7 Peter S. Mazinger 2005-02-09 07:56:06 UTC
why not doing it as well?
Comment 8 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-02-09 08:25:21 UTC
commented out filter-flags "-fPIC" in vsftpd-2.0.1.ebuild as it's no longer needed for vsftpd
