This is not the same as sys-fs/dd-rescue. Apparently, it does the job of both
dd_rescue and dd_rhelp - bug #52435

On another note... Could someone please tell me why there's a general tendency
to replace "_" with "-" in Gentoo Linux, especially since this is, usually,
exactly the other way around in other projects, and since "_" is a perfectly
valid character for the package name according to the Gentoo Ebuild policy:

rename packages unnecessarily?

for Sourceforge for example... If there is you may want to modify the SRC_URI
