The syntax of /etc/portage/mirrors should be the same as that of
thirdpartymirrors, so why not adjust gentoo.vim from gentoo-syntax like this:

<au BufNewFile,BufRead /thirdpartymirrors
>au BufNewFile,BufRead {*/thirdpartymirrors,/etc/portage/mirrors}
