Hey, I found gnome-light today and liked the idea very much. So I removed gnome, made a depclean and emerged gnome-light. Afterwards revdep-rebuild wanted to rebuild nautilus because it complained about libexif. But the compilation failed because nautilus depends on libexif but the nautilus ebuild doesn't resolve the dependancy. Greets Sebastian Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge nautilus without libexif installed 2. 3. Actual Results: nautilus builds *NOT* Expected Results: nautilus ebuild resolves dep on libexif and builds fine emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r3 (default-x86-2004.2, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1400MHz Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 distcc 2.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.14.90.0.8-r1 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r5 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -msse2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control"CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium3 -msse2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/home/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache distcc distlocks sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/pub/Linux/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.informatik.rwth-aachen.de/gentoo-portage" USE="X acpi alsa bitmap-fonts crypt cups dvd foomaticdb gnome gtk2 ithreads jpeg mmx mozilla moznocompose moznoirc moznomail ncurses nls oggvorbis png ppds readline spell sse sse2 ssl tetex truetype unicode x86 xprint zlib"
what was the actual error ? revdep rebuild is _not_ safe and is the probable cause of your problem.

Hi again! On the other hand, when emerging the nautilus ebuild without the libexif patch (comment: epatch ${FILESDIR}/${PN}-2-libexif.patch) it works. Maybe this patch isn't needed? Well, something is wrong. :) Sebastian
Created attachment 43890 [details, diff] simple patch I had the same problem trying to emerge gnome. The patch above seems to be enough to fix the problem for me anyway. I'm not sure if it is totally correct in that I don't know if it should be ">=" or just "=". It's a start though.
Please re-sync and remerge nautilus. The patch has been fixed, but it seems I forgot to close this bug.
