The 2.6.0 is out, I installed it via renaming the 2.4.2 ebuild, and compiled without problems. In portage, stable version is still 2.2.1 from january... seems to need 'some' version bumping.

Sorry i failed to edit the ebuild once submitted. The header must be changed to sync with the version: 2.6.0
You should update the RDEPEND in the ebuild to: RDEPEND=">=dev-libs/glib-2.4 >=x11-libs/gtk+-2.4 >=dev-libs/libxml2-2.4 >=gnome-base/libgnome-2.6 >=gnome-base/libgnomeui-2.6 >=gnome-base/libgnomecanvas-2.6 >=gnome-base/gnome-vfs-2.6 >=gnome-base/libglade-2.4 >=gnome-base/libgnomeprint-2.6 >=gnome-base/libgnomeprintui-2.6 >=gnome-base/libbonobo-2.6 >=gnome-base/libbonoboui-2.6 png? ( media-libs/libpng ) tiff? ( media-libs/tiff ) jpeg? ( media-libs/jpeg >=media-libs/libexif-0.5.12 ) gphoto2? ( >=media-libs/libgphoto2-2.1.3 )" (have a peek in gthumb-2.6.0.tar.gz/gthumb-2.6.0/configure.in line 22 and above).

Nice ebuild. Hope it gets included soon.
The 2.6.0.1 version corrects a really nasty bug that didn't allow to save images when edited, telling you hadn't the needed permisions. Now works fine and stable on my system.
I think it is a good question why portage have not been bumped? 2.4.2 has at least been in portage for a while, and I think it can be marked much more stable than 2.2.1. Thanks anyway for the ebuild. Going to try it out and just wait and see when someone in the gentoo-team gives him/herself the time to bump portage.
I was about to send a bug about not putting 2.4.2 in stable, and just found this bug report - i ddidn't even know there was a newer gthumb. I had to use 2.4.2 because it works with my digicam and 2.2 does not
I've added 2.6.0.1 to CVS now, thanks guys.
