I get this same problem....

I'm also seeing the same behavior. The error occurs in the case where qt is
already installed, and the case where it is not.

Also, if I add libqassistantclient.a (saved from a previous build) into
/var/tmp/portage/qt-embedded-3.1.2/work/qt-embedded-free-3.1.2/lib, the build
is able to continue.

same here... latest (masked) version compiles fine.
