coreutils-5.2.1-r2 currently installs [ and test in different locations:
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 24172 Aug 29 22:12 /bin/[
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root root 22104 Aug 29 22:12 /usr/bin/test
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root    11 Aug 29 22:12 /usr/bin/[ -> ../../bin/[

However, FHS 2.3 says:
The [ and test commands must be placed together in either /bin or /usr/bin.
