Ebuilds compiles fine here.

Start Evolution by following command:

evolution-2.0

------- Comment #8 From Xake 2004-09-06 14:13:47 0000 -------
Tried to compile all the packages in order. I do not have the errormessages at
hand, but....
evolution did not compile twice in a row with a errormessage about not finding
libgal-ally-2.x.so.0 (think it was 2.2).
Could not start my old (1.5.93) evolution giving me the same message.
Reemerging gal-2.2 did help, so now it works without problems.

But that symlink-thing (.so.0) maybe should be tested out?

------- Comment #9 From Xake 2004-09-09 01:13:18 0000 -------
What's keeping it?

------- Comment #10 From Joe McCann (RETIRED) 2004-09-09 01:20:05 0000 -------
There are no user visable feature additions and the final 2.0 release will be
made within the next week. Try and sit still til then.

------- Comment #11 From Xake 2004-09-09 02:57:21 0000 -------
Maybe no user-visible diffrences, but at least a bug making my evolution
sometimes want to restart right after first start seems to be fixed...

However: you are right. I will try to be calm.

------- Comment #12 From Xake 2004-09-09 03:03:30 0000 -------
...maybe we could sort that thing with the symlink in gal out?
I downgraded to evolution (and deps) to latest versions in portage.
When it comes to evolution it errors out complaining about that symlink I menitioned in post above. the already merged version of evolution did not want to start becouse of the same fact. Reemerge of gal fixed both.

When then upgrading again (yes, i did it to look for that error) the same thing happends. So something seems to broke in the bump of gal. If this version of evolution posted here would be nearly the same as the final, then maybe we should take a look at this so it will be fixed when it is time for the final?

------- Comment #17 From Thomas Sjolshagen 2004-09-13 12:36:22 0000 -------
The .ebuild in 63583 has "addressed" the gal-a11y problem by slotting gal-2.2.0
and thus preserving the softlinks and the libraries they point to.

Supposeldy, there's a "feature" of the loader that creates a circular
dependency between the previously installed libgal-a11y library and the new
(2.2.0 version) which breaks when the ebuild cleans up. Suppoesedly (according
to folks on #evolution) this doesn't happen every time :-(.

------- Comment #18 From foser (RETIRED) 2004-09-13 12:44:21 0000 -------
from my previous experience with gal, someone might want to investigate if the
binary age got set correctly.

I have bumped these packages in CVS.
Closing.

In the future, do not attach ebuilds for existing packages.
Please attach a diff of any needed changes, and ensure that it is
of type text/plain.

------- Comment #21 From Jason Toffaletti 2004-09-13 21:06:26 0000 -------
I ran into the gal symlink bug today when doing an emerge -uDv world.
reemerging gal fixed the problem though and I was able to successfully upgrade
evolution to 1.5.94.1 on amd64. evolution 1.5 has been working ok on my amd64
except for the calendar components. When I get an email with an attached .ics,
the inline view is too small to see anything. Also, whenever I switch to the
calendar it crashes. Here is the back trace:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
