I installed 2.6.8 kernel today (ck-sources). It had fbsplash patch included, so I unmerged bootsplash and installed splashutils. It works fine, but I liked gentoo bootsplash theme quite a lot and I was unplesantly surprised when I did not find it in splashutils. I had to reinstall bootsplash, copy the files do what is necessary and reinstall splashutils again (emerging bootsplash broke it). I got it to work, but can bootsplash gentoo theme be a part of splashutils package? Actually, I mean high-quality version, i.e gentoo-highquality. Or is there a reason why this is theme is not available in splashutils? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Sure, we can include it if the users like it. The reason it's not part of splashutils is that I was under the impression that people would like to see something new :) I'll add gentoo-highquality to the next version of splashutils.
Thanks. I was actually looking forward to the new theme, and it looks nice, but after a while I found Gentoo "G" in the middle too distracting. Whenever I had scrolling text in console, my eyes followed "G" instead of text. The old gentoo theme has simple background with no distractions and I like it more for doing some work. So, I like the new theme, but for work I prefer backgroung with very little gradient and so the old gentoo theme is a good match for me.
The 'gentoo' theme has been added to splashutils-0.9-pre08.
