Here's a portage of the stat command line utility.

Grab it from:

BTW, I think that this one should be a part of the base install.  It's a fairly
standard utility on Unix systems.

I just added this to CVS, so it'll be showing up on anoncvs/rsync soon.  Arcady,
please take a good look that the ebuild and note *all* the changes that I made.
 Since you're probably going to end up with access to CVS soon, I want to make
sure that you are up to speed on the fundamentals.  Thanks! :)  I'm leaving this
one out of the base install until it's requested by someone (else?) :)
