Hello,
I think =nvidia-drivers-367.57 should official support linux-4.8 kernels.

linux-4.8 is released on 2016-10-02
nvidia-drivers-367.57 is released on 2016.10.10

I tested =nvidia-drivers-367.57 with gentoo-sources:4.8.1
it builds and works fine.
