For whatever reason, I had set `x11-wm/mutter -kms` in `packages.use`. When converting to Wayland, this had the effect of losing "--display-server" command line option for both `mutter` and `gnome-shell` Then `gdm` was not able to start `gnome-shell-wayland.desktop`. Could've saved a few hours at least, if mutter[wayland] would've forced mutter[kms]. I specified package version, because I don't know whether this issue applies in earlier or later versions of the package. Any counter-arguments?
