Created attachment 438824 [details, diff] cogl fballoc patch fixing gnome-shell crashes Just upgraded to gnome-shell-3.20.2. Using nvidia-drivers 367.27. A few minutes after logging into the session gnome-shell crashes and I'm thrown back to TTY1. Switching back to TTY2 brings gnome-shell back but the wallpaper is all garbled. I found this discussion on arch forums which is exactly the same issue: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=211100 The following is corresponding arch bug report, which contains a patch that fixes the issue: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/48772 I'm attaching the patch. I've tested it to apply cleanly, build and fix the issue.
