Any version of Plymouth higher than the current stable should be stabilised, due to bugs in the current stable version. Namely bug #575768 was fixed in sys-boot/plymouth-0.8.5-r5, and bug #461478 seems to have been fixed in sys-boot/plymouth-0.9.2.
