Does this occur in the current stable? useful for differential testing.
sys-block/fio-2.2.9 emerged fine @ amd64-desktop-stable_20160116-231617
ya, .10 emerged fine here too...
seems to be linked with the status use flag, or maybe this is another bug :P In file included from /usr/include/string.h:634:0, from fio.h:13, from gettime.c:10: os/../lib/strsep.h:4:7: error: expected identifier or ‘(’ before ‘__extension__’ char *strsep(char **, const char *); ^ os/../lib/strsep.h:4:7: error: expected identifier or ‘(’ before ‘)’ token char *strsep(char **, const char *); ^ Makefile:287: recipe for target 'gettime.o' failed make: *** [gettime.o] Error 1
seems to be a problem with the static use flag, can you confirm?
(In reply to Matthew Thode ( prometheanfire ) from comment #8) static was not set at that image
well, I took a vanilla image and merged with every flag BUT static. also, from your environment file declare IUSE="aio glusterfs gnuplot gtk numa rbd rdma static zlib python_targets_python2_7" declare -x IUSE_EFFECTIVE="abi_x86_64 aio alpha amd64 amd64-fbsd amd64-linux arm arm-linux arm64 elibc_AIX elibc_Cygwin elibc_Darwin elibc_DragonFly elibc_FreeBSD elibc_HPUX elibc_Interix elibc_NetBSD elibc_OpenBSD elibc_SunOS elibc_Winnt elibc_glibc elibc_mintlib elibc_musl elibc_uclibc glusterfs gnuplot gtk hppa hppa-hpux ia64 ia64-hpux ia64-linux kernel_AIX kernel_Darwin kernel_FreeBSD kernel_HPUX kernel_NetBSD kernel_OpenBSD kernel_SunOS kernel_Winnt kernel_freemint kernel_linux m68k m68k-mint mips nios2 numa ppc ppc-aix ppc-macos ppc-openbsd ppc64 ppc64-linux prefix prefix-guest python_targets_python2_7 rbd rdma riscv s390 sh sparc sparc-fbsd sparc-solaris sparc64-freebsd sparc64-solaris static userland_BSD userland_GNU x64-cygwin x64-freebsd x64-macos x64-openbsd x64-solaris x86 x86-cygwin x86-fbsd x86-freebsd x86-interix x86-linux x86-macos x86-netbsd x86-openbsd x86-solaris x86-winnt zlib"
yes, I just meant I did not set it explicitly, but you're right, IUSE is the other player in this game.
InGit, commit 8e1ed2776ca3509bea3627f3c66ac6b99cef7119
(In reply to Matthew Thode ( prometheanfire ) from comment #10) The important variable would be USE, not IUSE or IUSE_EFFECTIVE.
FWIW æ md64-gnome-unstable_20160121-220651 failed fio-2.5 and " emerge --info | grep static" is empty
I am able to reproduce this; it has nothing to do with static or static-libs. % emerge -pv sys-block/fio These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild N ] sys-block/fio-2.5::gentoo USE="gtk zlib -aio -glusterfs -gnuplot -numa -rbd -rdma -static" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7" 0 KiB In file included from oslib/libmtd_legacy.c:38:0: oslib/libmtd.h:288:8: error: unknown type name ‘uint8_t’ uint8_t mode); ^ oslib/libmtd.h:305:4: error: unknown type name ‘uint64_t’ uint64_t start, uint64_t length, void *data); ^ oslib/libmtd.h:305:20: error: unknown type name ‘uint64_t’ uint64_t start, uint64_t length, void *data); ^ oslib/libmtd.h:322:5: error: unknown type name ‘uint64_t’ uint64_t start, uint64_t length, void *data); ^ oslib/libmtd.h:322:21: error: unknown type name ‘uint64_t’ uint64_t start, uint64_t length, void *data); ^ Makefile:294: recipe for target 'oslib/libmtd_legacy.o' failed make: *** [oslib/libmtd_legacy.o] Error 1
Created attachment 423680 [details] Build log
I traced this down to a change in mtd/mtd-user.h (linux-headers). https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=137d36af4a53858b8db7ca83c8480247118b8bdf I think libmtd.h should really do this itself: #include <stdint.h>
Ok, so two different bugs in one here: "os/../lib/strsep.h:4:7: error: expected identifier or ‘(’ before ‘)’ token" ^^ this was caused by missing static-libs with USE=static, because the upstream custom configure script made wrong decisions when linking failed. The mtd one is seperate, and i'll put in a workaround shortly.
Fixed in tree and submitted upstream. https://github.com/axboe/fio/pull/146
