http://12244.wpc.azureedge.net/8012244/drivers/rtdrivers/cn/nic/0003-r8168-8.041.00.tar.bz2 I've been getting frequent disconnects (daily) where this NIC just looses the ability to talk on the network. Would be nice to try this update out.
btw, I build a local overlay version of this by just bumping the version and changing 0002 to 0003, and it rebooted with network coming up just fine on stable hardened amd64.
Bumped. Thanks for the report, it isn't obvious when new versions of this driver get released, short of going to the site and having a look. I hope it helps with your issue but I can't say I've ever had any trouble like that, except perhaps when I used the mainline driver instead? Been a long time so I can't remember the details. Are you sure you've disabled the mainline r8169 driver?
Yes, I disabled the mainline driver. Running with my locally built ebuild has been the most stable its been for months. I didn't take the time to look at the delta, but it seems to work. My ethernet ports are built in to a shuttle machine http://global.shuttle.com/news/productsSpec?productId=1858 , 8111G's to be exact, and the mainline kernel doesn't even recognize them. Thanks for the quick resolution.
