New development version of Gimp was released last week. It is a significant upgrade over current stable 2.8.* version finally using much more of GEGL engine. As it might take a long time till stable 2.10 release, it would be useful to see this release in portage for the time being. Among highlights there are: 16/32bit per color channel processing On-canvas preview for many filters Experimental hardware-accelerated rendering and processing via OpenCL Higher-quality downscaling New and Improved Tools Reproducible: Always
I to would also love to try out the new GEGL transforms and canvus in 2.9.2... but at the same time, there's a stable bump from current in-tree version (2.8.14) to 2.8.16 that would be nice to have in portage.
