Description Till Schäfer 2015-11-20 20:06:29 UTC
when running the xorg-server together with the current stable intel video driver, it crashes with a segfault at start.

Therefore, x11-base/xorg-server-1.17.4 should block <=x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917. I have not tested x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917-r1, but x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917-r2 works here.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 3 Ben Kohler gentoo-dev 2015-11-25 16:18:56 UTC
I believe this is an issue with 4.x kernels, we really should get that new x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917-r2 stabilized since kernel 4.x has been stable for quite some time. Maybe we should convert this bug report to a stablereq?

@x11, do you guys know if any reason this r2 isnt ready for stable? It seems to have some very important fixes.
Comment 4 Till Schäfer 2015-11-25 18:23:02 UTC
The current stable Intel driver works without a crash with the current stable xorg-server-1.16.4, only after upgrading to 1.17.4, this segmentation fault occurs. Therefore, I do not see the kernel involved here (but I may miss some deeper understanding).

Already in progress :)

Bug 559062.
Comment 6 Matt Turner gentoo-dev 2017-01-29 18:17:55 UTC
1.18.4 is stable. The only future change I'm planning to make for the 1.17 series is its removal.
