The link in the ebuilds to lsi.com no longer works, it redirects to avagotech.com home page. It's not easy to find the packages. Searching for megacli didn't found anything. However going to a product's page lists it, f.e.: http://www.avagotech.com/products/server-storage/raid-controllers/megaraid-sas-9260-8i#downloads scrolling down you can find megacli (multiple versions). For example there is a direct link to this package: http://docs.avagotech.com/docs-and-downloads/raid-controllers/raid-controllers-common-files/8-07-14_MegaCLI.zip The page uses javascript/redirects to provide this link after accepting a popup license. I don't know how to use this correctly, I guess fetch restriction cannot be lifted. Would it be too bad to link a "random" raid controller like above to the ebuild? Reproducible: Always
I contacted Avago (LSI) some time ago because of the same problem: I could not find link to megacli-package. Avago-support answered MegaCLI is obsolete and not maintained anymore. No new versions can be expected, and bugs will not be fixed. MegaCLI does not even work for new controllers. But MegaCLI is being superseded by new StorCLI package (for some time they have been developed in paralel, now only StorCLI). There is already linux-version (both rpm and deb). Maybe it is time to remove MegaCLI from portage, and add StorCLI instead...
StorCLI does not work for some really old controllers, a similar problem exists for LSIUtil. However, what Avago HAS done, is provide pages where you can download WITHOUT a click-through EULA. I have revbumped the ebuild with the new URLs, and removed RESTRICT=fetch
