I've got problem with some fonts in Xorg and KDE, fonts like Sans and Sans Serif don't have polish charecters (ISO-8859-2) while fonts like Luxi Sans (and other Luxi family fonts) have. I have LANG="pl_PL" and LC_ALL="pl_PL" set so as LINGUAS="pl", in xfree-4.3.0 everything is ok, I've repleced /usr/share/fonts directory made by Xorg with the one from xfree and now everything is OK, so it's probobly something with generating encodings for Type1 fonts, I've emerged corefonts after building Xorg and they were OK, so truetype fonts were not affected. If you need any additional info (I have the /usr/shre/fonts dir form Xorg) then just let me know. I've asked on polish gentoo forum but it seems that this happend only to me :( prymitive
I've emerged ttf-bitstream-vera and they all have problems with polish characters (boxes instead of polish letters), microsoft corefont are ok, after running fc-cache -fv over fonts from xfree Serif lost polish characters too while Sans Serif is OK.
Ok, ttf-bitstream-vera don't have polish characters in Knoppix so it's ok, but Serif in kcontrol is broken while Sans-Serif is ok.
Simple solution: on the http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/ are Bitstream Vera Fonts with all iso-8859-2 characters. Fonts are high quality. But someone must create dejavu*ebuild.
Created attachment 41353 [details] media-fonts/dejavu/dejavu-1.4.ebuild Ebuild attached.
Thanks, added to CVS.
