Can't paste from non Gtk+ applications into the gnome-terminal

It seems to be a well-known gnome bug.  For example, 
see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=54185.
I'm assuming it will get fixed in gnome-2.  Meanwhile, multi-gnome-terminal
does not have this bug.
